7 Tips for Pregnant Women During Summer

Pregnancy

The hottest season of the year is eagerly awaited by many people, but tends to be a bit complicated for women during pregnancy. The main challenges that the mom to be faces are bloating, blood pressure dropping and the appearance of skin blemishes and dark spots. All these problems, however, can be avoided with simple precautions, such as bringing a bottle of water in the bag, exercise and lots of sunscreen. Sweet Little Nursery collected a few tips suggested by experts for pregnant women who want to make the most of their summer, without harming themselves and their little bun in the oven.

Always carry a bottle of water

The high fluid intake in summer is highly recommended for anybody, but it is especially relevant in the case of pregnant women. They need water to replace that lost in perspiration and also for the maintenance of the amniotic fluid, a sort of tank where the baby lives inside the mother. Furthermore, increasing the fluid volume in the body, blood pressure also rises, avoiding the feeling of dizziness typical of blood pressure drops. On average, a person should drink 2 liters of water daily, and remember that juices, soups and fruits are also great sources of liquid.

Use sunscreen

Because of the many hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy, melanin - a skin and hair protein pigmentation - is extremely stimulated resulting in stains. Therefore, the skin care during this period must doubled. The gynecologists recommend a daily use of sunscreen with SPF 30 at least, and no exposure to the sun between 10 am and 4 pm. These stains are permanent and some are hard to fade even with dermatological treatments, then the best approach is prevention.

Exercise

In addition of improving the mood of the mom to be, the physical exercise stimulates circulation, thereby avoiding the bloated feeling, common mainly on legs and feet. It is recommended that pregnant women give preference to activities in the water to reduce the impact of movements. However, the best exercise for pregnant women must be one with which she feels comfortable. Any sign of pain, shortness of breath or excessive tiredness should be informed to the doctor.

Try Prenatal Massage

Not always, regular exercise is enough to relieve bloating typical in pregnancy and  intensified by summer. In such cases, a prenatal massage makes all the difference, because besides relaxing, it drains the accumulated fluid in the legs and thighs. Make sure you look for a qualified professional to perform the procedure and, preferably, who has experience in prenatal massage.

Moisturize your skin

Pregnant women are more prone to the appearance of stretch marks, especially on the legs, buttocks and breasts. Therefore skin hydration should be done every day, even in the heat when skin oils usually increase. At this time, it is recommended to opt for oil-free moisturizers, but always follow up with a dermatologist to avoid allergic reactions to certain substances product.

Prefer cooler baths and cooler places

The heat promotes dilation of blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure, favoring blood stasis in the lower limbs. Therefore, pregnant women should avoid hot places and large crowds. Also, hot baths will dilate the blood vessels in your body. If even taking all the precaution, you still feel some dizziness, you should sit down immediately to avoid the risk of fall and hurt the baby.

Beware with skin exfoliation

In the case of pregnant women, the main benefit of exfoliation, which is the removal of dead skin, can also be a great danger. When you eliminate this layer of the skin that means you are taking an extra skin layer protection against the sun. Also, with the hormonal changes it is possible that their skin is more sensitive to certain products, which can trigger allergic reactions.
