Flamingo Themed Birthday Party

The blog Cute & Co. has the most fitting name ever. Everything we see from blogger and photographer Nicki Pasqualone is utterly darling, just like this flamingo themed first birthday party she planned for her daughter, Juliet. This party features beautiful use of color, feminine details without going over the top, and sweet handmade touches. But most of all, it's just a lot of fun! 6 Things You Should Do While Wearing Your Baby

We’ll admit it: we’re more likely to be found reading Pam Druckerman’s Bringing up Bebe than Dr. Sears’ Guide to Attachment Parenting.

As Bringing Up Bebe points out, some things are just more efficient when done without a crying baby in tow. That Pam Druckerman is very wise.

Still, research shows that baby-wearing is an excellent way to bond with your baby, and it’s been said to foster learning, organization, and social skills starting at infancy.

As for the crying? Research shows baby-wearing can lessen bouts of crying. That’s reason enough for us to think maybe there’s something to this baby-wearing thing.

Now, with the help of the new it’s easier than ever to bring your newest addition along for the ride. Here are some activities to help you ease into baby-wearing:

1. Hit the Mall: It’s amazing how friendly strangers are when you’re carrying a cute baby.  Ask for directions. Request a dress in six different sizes. Whatever you want, you’ll probably get it.
2. Travel: No matter how streamlined your packing system, you still only have two hands. A  lets you keep your baby close and your hands available for handling bags and important documents.
3. Get Outside: Hiking, the beach, berry picking, gardening, you name it!  Wraps allow you to move hands-free throughout the day, so you can keep doing the activities you love.
4. Relax at Postnatal Yoga: Yoga and babywearing are a natural fit as the meditative nature helps soothe the baby…andit’s low-impact.
5. Go Grocery Shopping: The first trip to the store with your newborn can be overwhelming. If I push the baby in the stroller, how can I push a cart too?  If I put the carseat in the cart, will I have room for my favorite chocolate covered pretzels? Enter the baby wrap: baby stays close and both hands are free to push the cart and select groceries!
6. Head To Brunch: #BabiesWhoBrunch can be found all over instagram. Strap on your favorite carrier, and go enjoy some Eggs Benedict…a real post-pregnancy perk.

Adoption Day Story

This post is a first for us, and we're so excited to share it! These photos by Kate Belle Photography document one sweet family's Adoption Day at the courthouse. From the butterflies and excitement upon arrival and those moments in the waiting room, to the oath and jubilation after it was final, Kate Belle's photos tell the story. How special to have this day captured forever! Read below for the beautiful description of the day by Stephanie, Sawyer's mom.

"Two years ago my husband and I got some news that made it obvious that a second pregnancy was unlikely. Adoption was something that we had discussed, in that fun and casual way that you can talk about things before they become a reality. Suddenly we were seriously considering what it would mean to adopt. We sat up all night talking and by morning it was decided. From that moment on, we never looked back.

"After a failed adoption that nearly broke our hearts, we paused to take time to heal and recover. Just days after starting our process over, we got a phone call that changed our lives. A baby girl, already born, mother gone, in a hospital not far from our house. Within 24 hours we were holding her. There are simply no words that could describe it.

"I called Kate to photograph our Adoption Day, the day that a judge officially recognizes us as a family under the law, I choked back tears explaining to her what we had been through and how very important this was. I felt instantly that she understood and connected with our story. I will never be able to thank Kate enough for being there with us and capturing the the day as it truly happened. I feel incredibly lucky to have such beautiful images to remind us of what we have and how hard we fought to get it.

"There will come a time when I share our journey with our daughter. I will tell her about the emotional roller coaster ride: excitement, disappointment, joy, pain, hope, fear and finally relief and gratitude. I will take her down the long and windy road that led us to her, and then I will take out these photographs and show her the celebration. I know that as much as I love them, they will one day mean even more to her."
